The Louvre & Louis Vuitton

One of my favourite buildings in Paris is of course Musee du Louvre. The majesty of this building is quite breathtaking. I love the symmetry, the sense of calm that emerges from its design.

The way the light plays on the various grey colouring of the building is magical. So I was thrilled to come across the latest Louis Vuitton add campaign featuring the Louvre. Take a look, it's fabulous.

Sunday is a great day for visiting museums, I hope you can find the time.
Have a lovely weekend.

Bastille Day

Thinking of Paris on Bastille day.....

To all those readers who love all things french
have a wonderful fete de la federation on 14th July. Grab a french movie or pick up your favourite french book and celebrate the joys of this amazing culture.

I'll be reading My french Life by Vicki Archer, cooking from Bistro, Great French Food by David Bransgrove and hopefully finding time to watch Amelie with the beautiful Audrey Tautou.
Have a lovely weekend. Andrina x

Au revoir Paris...

We have wandered the streets of Paris for the last few days and soaked up the amazing atmosphere that can only be found in this beautiful city. From markets in the Marais to exhibitions at the Pompidou Centre and Grand Palais.
We have discovered gorgeous clothes stores hidden down dark passages and trendy homewares stores announcing themselves to the street.
It has been a wonderful few days, our sliver treasure has not been found, but we are now Italy bound.

Talk to you soon, Andrina x

Paris in the rain

Louis Vuitton, Printemps.
The weather today in Paris is cold and grey, but she is still beautiful.
Last week I posted a picture of the Printemps spring window display, well today in the Paris drizzle, my heart skipped a beat as we strolled past the very same windows, a riot of colour as expected and a joy to my eyes.
Even in the rain there is magic in Paris.

Wishing you all a sunny weekend.

Mirror mirror...

Mirror mirror on the wall, where's the treasure I adore?
Gold abounds all around, silver treasure can't be found.

Paris is a city filled with gold.
Gold detailing on buildings, golden window displays  gold flowers and golden light.

Such a treat for my eyes.

Le Bistro

Image: Vicki Archer
There is something very special about the French bistro. The large coloured canopies announcing the
bistros presence to the world, the striped chairs that are particular to the French.

The purpose of the waiter as he balances his tray full of drinks, dancing around the patrons, creating order yet making people welcome.
His excellent knowledge of local produce and the specials of the day.

We have eaten some fabulous meals at our favourite bistros, watching Parisians go about their daily life.

Listening to snippets of conversations; mothers and daughters, students catching up together after a long absence, lovers recalling yesterday and just enjoying each others company over a plate du jour and a good Bordeaux.

Silver Treasure

This week my wonderful husband and I are off to Paris and Italy to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.

I thought that this amazing holiday was our gift to each other, he has other ideas.
"Surely we can find something silver while we are away," he muses.

That set my mind racing. Will there be a treasure waiting for us at marche Serpette in Paris? Maybe some ancient silver spoons from marche Malassis?

Perhaps some beautiful hand crafted silver jewellery found on via Mazzini, Perugia. Or a watch, from the huge array of second hand shops in Rome?
How am I not the luckiest girl in the world.
Stay posted and you can follow our adventurous treasure hunt for the perfect silver anniversary present.

Paris in spring...

The weather in Paris this week has been cold and wet but spring has found its way into French department store windows.

No matter what the season, Printemps always manages to have amazing window displays. Don't you just love the pop of pink, I would adore to see the other windows, I can only imagine the riot of colour; green, yellow and maybe blue. The fleuriste must have had so much fun choosing the accompanying flowers.

In just over a week I'll be having my very own French window therapy fix!
I have been honing my skills at what to pack in Paris during spring, thanks to A Femme d'Un Certain Age, by Tish Jett.
I've found some fabulous coffee shops in the Marais,
thanks to Carla Coulson, of Carla Loves Photography.(An Australian gal must have good coffee)
And finally researched the ten most romantic things to do in Paris, thanks to Vicki Archer of French Essence.

Just to get myself totally in the mood, this afternoon I went to the see the highly acclaimed french film The Well Digger's Daughter directed by Daniel Auteuil.
Being a francophile I thought I was in french heaven.
Have a lovely weekend.
