More St Werburghs...

I've always been facinated by the way that wood ages over many years. Our harsh Australian light plays upon its surfaces and changes it over time to beautiful shades of grey. Most of the wooden doors at Saint Werburghs are original, making them over 150 years old.

The various doors on the property that lead into storage rooms, tack rooms, shearing sheds and barns could be descibed as old and worn but to me they have a magical appeal. Not only is their patina extraordinary but I like to imagine about the lives of the various generations of children carrying their saddles back to the tack room or the hundreds of young bronzed shearers who have climbed the steps into the shed, eager for a good days work and a beer to finish up.

Have a lovely weekend, hopefully some magical doors may open up for you. Andrina x
